Updated Price Basket 2008 to 2012 now 45% higher

This is our latest updated price basket for the real world , while updating for this year a few things surprised me

1. The basket of food items would have been lower than last year if detergent had not increased significantly

2. Average new home prices increased by close to 25% in the last 12 months which comes as a surprise in a flat housing market

3. It shocks me that overall the basket has increased by 45% in 4 years while government published figures show closer to 10% inflation over the same period.

4. During the same period gold has more than doubled in price from $820.00 to $1,720.00
